Edgar Allan Poe–The Murders in the Rue Morgue
Edgar Alan Poe – The Murder in the Rue Morgue
The original detective story.
Two women are found brutally murdered in their Parisian home in the Rue Morgue – one body, virtually decapitated, the other thrust head downwards up a chimney. The Police, baffled by the apparent lack of any possible egress by the killers, strange voices heard just after the blood-curling screams of the woman, and the lack of a motive – not for the murders themselves but for the savage nature of the crime – arrest a seemingly innocent man. In step, C. August Dupin investigates the seemingly impossible events.
In Dupin, Edgar Alan Poe created the first modern detective all others were based including Sherlock Holmes, Arsene Lupin, Miss Marple, and even Jessica Fletcher.

Charles Dickens – A Christmas Carol
Blue Orange Arts Presents:
Charles Dickens – A Christmas Carol (15th – 24th December)
Ebenezer Scrooge, an elderly and wealthy man, is well-known for his miserly ways and unkind spirit.
One Christmas Eve, Scrooge is visited by the ghost of his old business partner, Jacob Marley, who is eager for Scrooge not to share his miserable and eternal fate in the afterlife.
Marley tells Scrooge that he will be visited by three spirits; the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present, and Christmas Yet to Come. These ghosts show Scrooge how his mean, selfish behavior has affected those surrounding him and that there is still time for him to change his wicked ways.
Dickens’ supernatural tale of redemption and the Christmas spirit is one of the most iconic seasonal tales of all time; delighting readers and audiences, of all ages, generation after generation.
