Blue Orange Arts is a Birmingham-based registered charity dedicated to making creative work that is accessible, inclusive and community-rooted — through film, theatre, youth arts and social projects.
Who We Are
Founded in March 2012, Blue Orange Arts (registered charity no. 1145871) grew from a simple belief: that the arts should be available to everyone, regardless of background, ability or circumstance. We work alongside communities across Birmingham and beyond, creating original work and opening doors for people who might otherwise never set foot in a theatre or on a film set.
Our wider programme spans independent film, theatre production, a thriving youth theatre, social engagement projects, a satirical film review series and podcast recordings of plays.
We operate the Blue Orange Theatre on Great Hampton Street in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter — a 105-seat theatre with a rehearsal studio and bar, opened in 2011. As well as producing our own shows, we support other Midlands-based companies and tour productions across the UK, including regular runs at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Our Mission
We are dedicated to providing high-quality arts projects to the local community, Birmingham and the West Midlands. We aim to engage as many people as possible through productions, projects, courses and workshops — keeping our prices as accessible as possible and never charging booking fees.
